I’ve made the tough decision to move on from the Maricopa County Democratic Party (MCDP).
If you couldn’t tell, MCDP has always made me smile. I love the work we do and the people I have the opportunity to work with daily. Our team - staff, board, LD Chairs, donors, volunteers - are making tremendous strides in putting Maricopa County at center stage in national politics.
In my short amount of time as Executive Director, we have built upon our past successes. For the first time in MCDP history, we raised the most money, recruited the most volunteers, and recruited candidates for all countywide positions.
Unfortunately, if we want to turn Arizona blue, there is still much more to do. Despite my departure, I’m confident MCDP will continue on a successful path. Although the work is daunting, MCDP will not deter its efforts. This organization has consistently worked to support our Legislative District (LD) committees, recruit and support down-ballot candidates, train volunteers, train future democratic party leadership, and build a bench for all races in Arizona. I am proud to have been a part of this decades-long effort to elect Democrats in Arizona.
I’m excited to watch MCDP grow in 2022 and beyond. There is a critical election next year, and the foundation is being built now. I am overwhelmed by the professionalism and hard work of our current Executive Board. I have the utmost respect for our Chair, Nancy Schriber, and am confident in her innovative ideas to support our candidates in 2022. Working with Nancy as Chair of MCDP and LD 28 has inspired me. She is committed to being a consistent leader, a strong communicator, and a creative collaborator. I am confident that MCDP is in safe hands, and her leadership will take us to the next level of service.
Finally, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your contributions, volunteer hours, and your activism. I am proud of the work that we have accomplished together during my time at MCDP. Wherever I go, it won’t be far. And, of course, I will always be a supporter of MCDP!
